The apostle Paul writes that the key to a peaceful nation is prayer for it’s leaders.
I Timothy 2:1-2 [The apostle Paul wrote] I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. (NASB)
Prayer gives you God’s perspective on problems and a heavenly perspective – and that may suggest a solution! Sometimes our minds are so encumbered by everyday concerns that a heavenly point of view is crowded out. Prayer changes things!
The apostle Paul encourages Timothy to pray “for kings and those in authority.” It’s easy to pray for those in authority that you agree with; but when it comes to leaders with whom you don’t agree . . . not so much. (When this verse was written the Christian-killing Roman emperor was Nero!) This means that Christ-followers can influence government by their prayers.
