The apostle Paul describes a Christ-follower’s role in this world.
Ephesians 5:10-11 Carefully determine what pleases the Lord. Take no part in the worthless deeds of evil and darkness; instead, expose them. (NLT)
Discover what pleases the Lord and set about living that way. Part of the equation is a zero-tolerance for what does not please God — and not just abstaining, but speaking out boldly and fearlessly against such deeds. The Church, the Body of Christ cannot be silent!
Albert Barnes wrote: “This is the business of Christians. Their lives should be a standing rebuke of a sinful world, and they should be ever ready to express their [strong disapproval] of its wickedness in every form.” That’s what being “salt and light”, in this world, is all about!
