The apostle Luke records Jesus’ mission statement.
Luke 19:10 [Jesus said] “For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.” (NASB)
In the poem, “The Hound of Heaven” it says, “I fled Him, down the nights and down the days . . . ” It’s a picture of sinful man running from the very Savior who can bring healing and forgiveness. Before creation, a decision was made in heaven for God’s only Son to come to earth as a man . . . to live, die, and be resurrected to pay the sin penalty for all who would receive it.
But today, many feel too broken . . . too stained with sin for God to forgive. That is the lie of the Evil One. Jesus came to save sinners and He will pursue you, tug at your heart, and draw you to Himself. (If you want to stop running, but still have questions, go to familylife.org and “Click” on the box that asks, “Do you know Jesus?”)
