Matthew 18:21-22
“Then Peter came up and said to him, ‘Lord, how often will my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? As many as seven times?’ Jesus said to him, ‘I do not say to you seven times, but seventy-seven times.’”

Forgiveness has no measurement. Just as Jesus forgave all the mistakes you have ever and will ever make, He calls us to forgive others the same way. When Peter asks Jesus if forgiving his brother seven times was enough, Jesus tells him that it’s not about numbers. You shouldn’t count the times someone has done wrong to you, and you shouldn’t keep carrying the grudges you hold. True forgiveness is an act of love that contradicts everything in our broken world, and by demonstrating it, the supernatural love of the Father shines bright.

Ephesians 4:32
“Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.”

Forgiveness is at the heart of the Christian faith, and it’s one of the core concepts found in God’s Word. Since forgiveness is what has rescued us for eternity, we shouldn’t be surprised that we are also commanded to forgive during our time on earth. If Jesus could love and forgive the soldiers who nailed Him to a cross, we can also forgive those who have wronged us in our own lives. You who are born again have the Holy Spirit inside you, and with it comes the ability to love the unlovable and forgive the unforgiveable. And when forgiveness isn’t easy, remember the unknowable number of sins that were forgiven you, paid for by the blood of Christ.

“But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.”

Jesus scolded the Pharisees of His time for praying in public, not because it’s wrong to pray in front of others, but because they only prayed this way to impress people. Prayer isn’t about putting on a show for others, or garnering admiration. Prayer is about you and God, and His Word encourages you to remember this. Praying in secret means that you aren’t seeking attention or recognition for your acts; just having a personal talk with the Maker of heaven and earth.

Colossians 2:6-7
“Therefore, as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, having been firmly rooted and now being built up in Him and established in your faith, just as you were instructed, and overflowing with gratitude.”

Today is our National Day of Prayer, and the theme verse for this year is Colossians 2:6-7, which reminds us to walk with the Lord. On a day when we dedicate our time to prayer, it’s important to remember that we have received Christ, are firmly rooted in Him, and are still being built up by Him even now. You are a new creation, and the Word tells us that the prayers of God’s children go a long way. But as you pray for your neighbors, your country, and your world, remember to give thanks, too. There’s more than enough reason to be overflowing with gratitude when your debts have been paid for by the blood of Jesus

Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.

While prayer is between you and God, we shouldn’t be afraid to pray with and for each other. As a Christian, you are part of the Body of Christ, and together we are called to look out for one another. The scriptures encourage us to confess our troubles and mistakes to each other, so that through prayer we can strengthen ourselves and our walk with God. The Lord hears the prayers of everyone, and the prayers of a righteous person carry a special weight. Surround

yourself with others who are firmly rooted in the Lord, and don’t be afraid to ask for prayer, just as you would pray for them.

“And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words.”

Those who are born again in Christ have a relationship with God. When you pray, He wants you to pray genuinely, and from your heart, not as a ritualistic plea. Praying longer or more often doesn’t always mean praying better. When you present your requests to God, be present, and above all, seek His will. God’s answers to your prayers may be better than you had hoped, or not at all what you had expected, but our Father loves a faithful heart that trusts in His plan.
