Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.

The Lord is loyal to His children, and you and I should be loyal to Him too. If you’ve repented of your mistakes and asked Christ into your heart, you’ve been given a hope like no other: eternity in paradise with God is right around the corner! That’s His promise, and He meant it. In a society that’s drifting further and further from God, people will inevitably dislike you for your beliefs, and it will be tempting to hide them. After all, why make a big deal about it? But as Jesus said, if anyone will confess Him before men, He will confess them before the Father.

Proverbs 3:3
Let not steadfast love and faithfulness forsake you; bind them around your neck; write them on the tablet of your heart.

Love, more than an emotion, is the choice to be selfless and treat someone else the way you’d want to be treated. But steadfast love is unceasingly loyal, weathering storms and surviving hardships that would otherwise destroy relationships. People are people, and because of human nature, we will inevitably let each other down at some point. But a person with the steadfast love that Proverbs talks about doesn’t stop hanging on! Write that kind of love on your heart and wear it around your neck, says the Word. Be the one who always forgives, always hopes, and always loves, not because the person deserves it, but because Christ loved you first.

Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world. If my kingdom were of this world, my servants would have been fighting, that I might not be delivered over to the Jews. But my kingdom is not from the world.”

Life is but a breath, and the Kingdom is just around the corner. Heaven is a place where the God of all good things is king, and He has made a way for all of those who accept Him to enjoy it. The “real world” isn’t here on this earth, where sin corrodes everything, and death is a guarantee. Your real home is beyond where you will live eternally, either in paradise, or far removed from it. Heavens gates are open to all, even to a criminal dying beside Jesus on a cross as long as our trust is in Him. He has paid for your sins as a free gift: you need only accept it and believe.

And he said to them, “Take care, and be on your guard against all covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.”

When measured against the rest of the world where basic needs such as food and shelter aren’t a guarantee, you’re pretty wealthy. Whether you’re considered rich or poor by this country’s standards, there are probably a number of luxuries you enjoy, or wish you could enjoy. There’s nothing wrong with being rich or poor, but don’t let what you have or don’t have become more important than what you live for. The truth is, you’re just passing through this life on your way to your eternal home, either with God, or apart from Him. Invest your heart in the treasure that is to come, not the treasures you have here on earth. The world we live in isn’t even worth comparing to the kingdom Christ has prepared.

It’s no secret: sin and godlessness are running rampant in this country, and in the world. Violence, perversion, and twisted ideals are soaked into our society. A country that was once founded on God’s word is drifting further and further from Him… but not everyone is moving with the current. The body of Christ is still alive and well, and the God you serve is a merciful one. Time and time again throughout the Bible, we see the rebellious nation of Israel saved by the loyalty of a precious few. In dark times like these, it’s important that you and I pray for our nation and its people. Pray that the Lord would forgive the sins of this country and put the focus of its people back on the Word of God

Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants of God

The United States of America is a country where individual freedom is valued and celebrated. One of the few countries now, or ever before in human history, to put the rights of its citizens on so high a pedestal. You are truly blessed to have been born in the time and place that you are, and with the freedom that you’ve been given, there is also a responsibility. Responsibility to live freely, not as someone who abuses their freedom and throws Christ’s teachings to the wind, but as someone who uses their blessings to serve the Living God. It’s because of this country, and the brave people who fought for it, that you are physically free, but it’s because of Jesus that you are truly free from the grip of death. Live like it, swearing allegiance to the one who gives true life, and true freedom to all.
