The apostle John records Jesus’ prayer with His disciples just before His death.
John 17:21 [Jesus prayed for all who would believe in Him] . . . that they may all be one; even as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me. (NASB)
The hour of Jesus’ betrayal and ultimate sacrifice was very near. Is it strange the Savior gathered those closest to Him at this testing time? In a short time, Christ would reach out to His Father in the Garden of Gethsemane in a period of agonized prayer! Then, with the disciples, Jesus conducted a prayer meeting where He was the One doing the praying.
Jesus prayed for every Christ-follower who would ever place their trust in Him! The objective for Christ-followers of all ages is that the world may believe that Christ was sent by God. How is that done? Christians living like Christians!
