Matthew 6:19-20
Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.

Everything we have, right down to the breath in our lungs, belongs to God. He allows us to have agency over our possessions, but we shouldn’t value them above all else. The things we hold dear on this earth can disappear in a moment, but if we invest in the lives and well being of others above ourselves, the treasures waiting for us in Heaven will never go away.

2 Corinthians 9:7
Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

Generosity isn’t born out of guilt or duty; it comes from the heart, and it’s the heart that God cares about. Giving to others isn’t a chore or requirement, nor should it be treated as one. Instead of forcing yourself to be generous, pray that God would plant the seeds of kindness and charity inside you.

Malachi 3:10
Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need.

Nowhere in the Bible does God encourage us to test Him, except when it comes to tithing. Here the Lord dares us to give all we can, and see if He won’t bless us in turn. Our God is a great provider, and the Word reminds us elsewhere that, if He gives food to the sparrows, He will certainly take care of His children.

2 Corinthians 9:6
The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.

God takes notice when we are selfless. The Word promises that we will be rewarded with eternal treasures in Heaven when we bless others, and during our lives on earth, chances are that others will notice too. Whoever gives generously will reap a rich reward, but in the end, that reward shouldn’t be the reason we give. Our generosity should always come from the heart, and our desire to serve God.

Acts 20:35 In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’

Jesus purpose for being on Earth was to give. He gave His heart, His time, and ultimately His life to benefit humanity, and as living examples of Christ, we should make every effort to be generous to those around us. Whether you’re sacrificing money, time or your personal wants, we are assured that it is more blessed to give than to receive.

Isaiah 26:3 You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.

Trusting in God doesn’t mean we can expect all trials and pain to disappear from our lives, but we do know that the Lord knows best. In the midst of worry and hardships, we know that He is working in and through our lives, and will never leave us nor forsake us. As Christians, we can’t lose; our eternity in Heaven is sealed, and wherever we go, God will be with us.
