Family Life Ministries has an opening for a full-time Chef.  Family Life, in its 67th year of ministry, has plans to build a new world-class headquarters in Corning, NY that will allow for the growth and expansion of our performing arts, events, and Hope & Healing counseling ministry departments, as well as our regional radio network which consists of nearly 70 broadcast signals in New York and Pennsylvania. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Produce several different types of dishes in a high-volume setting for all Family Life events
  • Communicate clearly, pleasantly, and effectively with guests, staff, and volunteers
  • Ensure the kitchen adheres to health and safety regulations
  • Be creative with ingredients and recipes
  • Support and promote ministry outreach through homemade meals, baked items, and various other items
  • Assist the Food Service Director in planning, preparation, service, and clean-up of meals
  • Maintain kitchen cleanliness at all times
  • Help Provide Food Items for Various Events Including- Staff Events, Concerts, Seminars, Musical Performances, Off-Site Catering, Workshops, Fundraisers and Banquets
  • Work alongside other staff and volunteers in a coordinated effort to produce high quality meals
  • Participate in organization of inventory systems and food ordering
  • Help increase and maintain staff morale through various food incentives

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must maintain a positive Christian testimony through a vibrant, active, and strong personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Must have good time management skills, be organized, and meet deadlines consistently
  • Knowledge of kitchen equipment
  • Able to work by themselves and as part of a team
  • Experience in a commercial kitchen is necessary
  • Experience using a variety of cooking techniques, a focus on banquet-style cooking is preferred

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds, work on their feet for extended periods of time
  • Available to work weekends and evenings
  • Be a team player with a positive attitude

SALARY

$45,000- $60,000/ year

The initial compensation for the chosen candidate is determined by various job-related elements such as education, experience, and training. The position also comes with an array of benefits such as medical coverage, a Health Savings Account, a Health Reimbursement Arrangement, a 403(b) plan with matching contributions, life insurance, disability benefits, ten paid holidays, five PTO days, and ten vacation days allowable within the first year.
