Another uncommon ingredient. Maybe this one will be a new family favorite?
Ingredients:
1 Pound Fresh Okra (ends trimmed, cut into 1/4 in slices)
1/2 Cup of Flour
1/2 Cup Cornmeal
1/2 Tsp Cayenne Pepper
Pinch of salt and pepper
1 Cup Buttermilk
Canola Oil
Method:
Soak the okra in the buttermilk. Combine the flour, cornmeal and seasonings in a shallow pan or bowl. Remove the okra from the milk a few at a time and dredge in the flour mixture. Remove from breading and place on parchment paper.
Heat oil in a large skillet so its about 1-2 inches deep. Oil should be hot, but not smoking. In small batches, fry the okra in the oil until golden brown. Place on paper to drain. Serve!
